    Surrealism and Art Deco were the two main Art Movements of the 1920's and 1930's.
    There was one american artist who had a large impact on the stlye of art in the 1920's;
    Maxfeild Parrish was born in philadelphia, Pennsylvania. started out drawing when he was a child for his own amusement. he went to Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. in 1920 he concentrated on painting instead of illustrating. Androgynous nudes in fantastical settings were a recurring theme. then in 1931 he focused on landscapes. his art featured luminous colors. he achieved his results by means of a technique involving several coats of oil and varnish applied to his paintings.

    Spectator Sports of the 1920's
    The 1920's have been called the golden age of sports, and the age of the spectator. There were many great athlete's at this time such as George "The babe" Herman Ruth, William "Big Bill" Tatem Tilden II, Steve Donoghue and his horse Humorist, and a boxer named Jack "the Manassa Mauler" Dempsey are just a few to name.
    The 20's were different from the 30's for a couple reasons. the main being, in the 30's boxing was much more popular than sports such as baseball, because it was cheaper to go to, it was easier to understand, and men felt that it was an easier way to take out there anger. Another reason that the 30's were different from the 20's, is the fact that it was during the great depression so people had to save money and couldn't go to games.
    {babe-swinging.jpg}
    Babe Ruth
    Babe ruth was one of the greatest baseball players not of just the 20's but in the entire history of the sport. Babe ruth held the home run record until Hank Aaron broke it on April 8th, 1974. His record of 714 homeruns is now third today.
    {JackDempsey-Corbis-1.jpg}
    Jack Dempsey
    Jack dempsey was also one of boxing most important people. Jack attracted many new people to boxing and held the world heavyweight title for 7 years, being one of the longest holders ever.
