Architecture 20's and 30'sFlat roofs with gardens, white walls, and regular shapes were the basic architecture characters until the 20's and 30's came along. New houses were built with better methods, therefore the houses could be heated or cooled better. A popular type of housing is called the Bungalow. Bungalow means: A house that looks as if it has been built for less money than it actually costs. Bungalow information.

The goal for architecture in the 20's and 30's were to make them affordable. The first skyscraper came around in the 1920's. At the time, engineers figured the highest a skyscraper could be built at was 2000 feet. Skyscraper information

One of the best known skyscrapers was the Empire State Building. This came in the 1930's. Steel, concrete, and water pumps made it possible to pump water all the way up to the rooms at the top of the skyscraper. Before these resources, water could only be pumped up about 50 feet.
